Mr. Hughes was elected to the Orange County Navigation & Port District Board of Commissioners in 1994 and is currently serving as President of the Board. Mr. Hughes has been active in real estate in the Orange community since the opening of his business, Jerry Hughes Realty, in 1977.
Mr. Smith was elected to the Orange County Navigation & Port District Board of Commissioners in 1988. He is owner of Jimmy Smith Insurance Agency which he founded in 1988. Mr. Smith has served as a member of the Rotary Club of Bridge City, Sabine Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, Bridge City Lodge #1345, Scottish Rite, El Mina Shrine Temple, Orange Gun Club, Life Member NRA and St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Mr. Smith was voted Bridge City Citizen of the Year in 1988.
Mr. Wallace was elected as Commissioner to the Orange County Navigation & Port District Board of Commissioners and currently serves at the Secretary/Treasurer of the Board. Mr. Wallace is President of Reliable Dry Cleaning Services in Bridge City, Orange, Vidor and Pinehurst which is a family owned business purchased in 1988. He is an active member of the Orange Lions Club, Bridge City Chamber of Chamber of Commerce, Vidor Chamber of Commerce, Orange Chamber of Commerce, Sabine Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, the Texas Farm Bureau and the National Rifle Association. Also, Mr. Wallace is currently a Board Member for the Orange County Economic Development Committee.
Mr. Young was elected to the Orange County Navigation & Port District Board of Commissioners 1986-1998 and again in 2002 to present where he served as Secretary/Treasurer until 2004. Mr. Young is a 49 year veteran of the shipping industry. He began his career, with the ports, working for Lykes Brothers Steamship Company in 1962. With Lykes he was employed as a clerk in charge of loading and unloading ships where he became knowledgeable in all functions of port operations. In 1964 he was instrumental in organizing the Clerks & Checkers Union in Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange. He has served as Business Agent and President of the local ILA and as Organizer for the South Atlantic and Gulf Port District ILA. Mr. Young has lived in Vidor, Texas most of his life. His hobby is farming and cattle.
Ms. Winfree retired in 2003 from Orangefield ISD where she served as a Teacher for 22 years. She also is an active member of The Order of Eastern Star, Winfree Baptist Church, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Southeast Texas Independent Cattlemen’s Association and the Lower Sabine-Neches Soil & Water Conservation District #446 where she currently serves as secretary. Ms. Winfree is the first woman to serve on the Port of Orange Board of Commissioners.
